#61 - Pterygoid PIR

Purpose:

Relax pterygoid muscle to decrease pain, tension, and stiffness, and improve biomechanics of the TMJ.

Where to Feel it:

Gentle stretch around your jaw.

Description:

  • Press your fingers against your chin.
  • On an inhale, protrude your jaw lightly (only 10% of your effort) into the resistance of your fingers, which will keep your jaw from actually moving forward.
  • On the exhale, relax the jaw and let it retract back.
  • Remember to always keep breathing!
